Well, as we all know by now, Vegas unveiled their new team name and logo: The Las Vegas Golden Knights. I’m not completely sure I love the colors, but I’m a big fan of the logo. It makes me think of 300 and to be honest Leonitus was a stud. Think of all the sick helmet designs you could have painted! I’m really hoping a few of them get put up in GGSU. But I digress, let’s take a look at the games played last night:
STL: 4, BOS: 2
Being that I’m from Boston, of course I wanted my hometown B’s to pull of this dub. Tuukka has been on a tear lately, leading the league in wins, if I’m not mistaken (no big deal) but tonight was not his best night. If I’m being honest, I thought he should have had the game winner; it wasn’t his best rebound control. Tonight was all about Jake Allen. The guy was a stud in net for the blues. 39 saves, some of them huge by the way, and a W makes for a sweet night for him. I guess he’s trying to prove the Blues organization right for sticking with him instead of Brian Elliot, and if he keeps playing like this he will.
CAR: 2, TOR: 1
Can we talk about how hot Wardo has been the past few weeks? The guy is killing it right now, 5 goals in 5 games AND riding a 5 game win streak. I’m not saying that the ‘Canes aren’t playing exceptionally well right now, but good ‘ole Cam has been playing big! I do have to give credit to Frederik Anderson though, he made a few pretty great pad saves tonight and he looks like he’s starting to get more and more comfortable for the boys in blue.
OTT: 4, MTL: 3
Obviously, we all know why Craig Anderson has been in hockey news recently for off ice reasons, but can we talk about how amazing his on ice play has been lately? The guy was a brick wall for the Sens last night! I won’t lie, when he fanned on the puck midway through the second period I almost had a heart attack. I know our boy Don Milky almost shit himself. Thankfully Craig pulled a few great saves out of his ass and ended up with the win on 35 saves against a RED HOT habs
P.s: How happy do you think Condi was after this win? Nothing like beating your old team eh?
PHI: 3, FLA: 1
I know a lot of guys in the group are excited about the possibility of Anthony Stolarz getting his first NHL start tonight night for the Flyers, but I’m sorry that has to take a back seat to Steve Mason just flat out playing his ass off tonight. 38 saves, and almost a shutout (he got scored on with 1:51 left in the game) and some yuuuge saves for the big man. Robby Lou looked pretty solid for the Panthers as well, but Mason took the cake as the better tendy for the night.
NYI: 3, ANA: 2
I gotta tell you guys what, this was a legit goaltending duo, and the shootout made this game a complete rollercoaster of emotions. I gotta give credit where credit is due, both Bernier and Greiss made some pretty great saves in this game. Between both teams having nearly 40 shots a piece to the fact that the shootout went to so many extra rounds, this game was wild. If you were watching the game, the shootout was mental. Seven rounds in and my heart was pounding. 12th round and I was ready to jump around on the Hickey shootout goal, was it goaltender interference? I CAN’T DECIDE. And I’m not even really a fan of either team. I just love a good shootout. 14 rounds later, the Isles get the dub. Does Hickey’s 12th round goal change the game? You tell me.
3 Goaltending Stars of the Night:
- Steve Mason
- Jake Allen
- Craig Anderson
Save of the Night:
This literally saved the game for the Blues. Way to go Jake.
